During the ANPEI Conference 2022 in Campinas (SP), ENRICH in LAC presented the panel “ENRICH Global” on November 30th.
The Managing Director Marco Quirino introduced ENRICH in LAC to all participants. Following, Filipe Cassapo, President of ENRICH in LAC, talked about ENRICH GLOBAL, a Global Network of the EU for Science, Technology, and Innovation, aiming at addressing some major sustainability challenges around the world. He introduced the Arsinoe project, of which ENRICH Global is a member. To close the session, Simon Schmitz (DLR-PT) presented the ENRICH training course “Strategic Foresights”, on anticipatory decision making. The course will help innovative companies to account for potential future developments and the possible convergence of long-term trends.
On the second day of ANPEI Conference 2022, December 1st, ENRICH in LAC presented the panel “Urban Living Labs and co-creative approaches: experimenting for sustainable urban futures in Brazil and Europe” organized in collaboration with JPI Urban Europe and DUT Partnership .
Over the last ten years, co-creative experimental methods have become widely spread to address urban challenges in Europe. These endeavors reflect the need for open, collaborative approaches taking into account the full complexity of urban dynamics for sustainable transitions. The participants of this session discussed the potentials and limitations of experimental methods for urban transformation. It highlighted why we need to do things and experiment more to collectively shape our urban future(s).
Besides the ANPEI Conference, ENRICH in LAC, JPI Urban Europe and DUT European Partnership jointly organized a Mission to Brazil between November 28th and December 2nd to explore collaboration opportunities in the area of sustainable urbanization. The delegation consisted of the following representatives:
Berna Windischbaur (Austrian Research Promotion Agency), Johannes Rigler (JPI Urban Europe/DUT), Margit Noll (Driving Urban Transitions), Chiara Tornaghi (Coventry University), Anamaria Vrabie (Urban Insights Center- Urban INC), Ivette Arroyo (Lund University), Paula Presser de Santana (University of Twente), Wojciech Keblowski (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and Leonardo Brawl Márquez (TransLAB.URB).
A number of bilateral meetings were organized with funding agencies (FINEP, FAPESP), local initiatives (SampaPé , Decomplica SP and Fundação Vanzolini), SP Municipality as well as other stakeholders such as ICLEI América do Sul and portfolio of innovative projects were introduced to each other.
ENRICH in LAC together with the ENRICH Centre also travelled to Brasilia to meet IBICT, the coordinator of EEN Brazil to discuss 2023 plans together.
Furthermore, ENRICH in LAC and ENRICH Centre had a meeting with the EU Delegation to exchange information on ongoing activities and discussed possible synergies. After the Brazil Mission, the DUT Delegation travelled to Uruguay and met with national authorities, agencies, and discussed future collaboration opportunities.
