The ENRICH in LAC Project
ENRICH in LAC is a European Union funded project under the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (2021-2023) and is the successor of the ENRICH in Brazil project (2017-2020). ENRICH in LAC aims to encourage and promote innovation cooperation between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, fostering the innovation capacities in both regions and supporting international partnerships, especially in the fields of global societal challenges.
The project facilitates collaboration between European and Latin American & the Caribbean science, technology and innovation actors. For that purpose, the ENRICH Centre in São Paulo, Brazil, was founded in 2019, under the H2020 project ‘CEBRABIC’. The Centre is an innovation network that connects the EU-LAC community through member- and partnerships, representations and other means of involvement to its services and activities.
ENRICH in LAC is now expanding into the whole Latin American & Caribbean region, enlarging the network in LAC and Europe. Focus is given on selected thematic fields such as health, bioeconomy, digitalisation, renewable energy and sustainable urbanisation; as well as to horizontal topics such as capacity building on international cooperation, research and innovation management.
The project has a duration of 36 months, starting from January 2021 until December 2023. The contract for the ENRICH in LAC project was awarded to a consortium led by the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft e.V. (Germany), including DLR-PT (Germany), SPI (Portugal), RCISD (Hungary), FFG (Austria) and ANPEI (Brazil).

The ENRICH in LAC centre is the main hub and contact point for science, technology and innovation actors from Europe and Latin America & the Caribbean, bringing them together in one network. ENRICH aims to encourage and facilitate cooperation in science, technology, innovation and business between these regions, providing a wide range of services for its members and where members in turn can play an active role.
Founded by the CEBRABIC project and gave way to the ENRICH in LAC project in December 2019 as a non-profit organisation, the ENRICH centre is now an association of innovation actors, committed to fostering innovation and business and connecting key actors in Latin America and Caribbean and Europe. ENRICH members are from both public institutions and the private sector, counting on the expertise from reputable academic & research organisations, industry & services, international consultancies, government agencies, media and influencers.
